A packed weekend with solstice events for Casper sun “worshipers”

CASPER, Wyo – Sun worshipers who loosely use this term to refer to anyone who particularly enjoys going outside to bask in the rays emanating from the hot plasma ball at the center of our solar system become many The solstice in Casper has opportunities to celebrate this weekend.

The solstice technically takes place at 9:31 pm on Sunday, June 20 in Mountain Standard Time, but there are a number of solstice-related activities on the weekend and Monday.

It starts with a “Mystic Solstice Dance Party” in the downtown café The Bourgeois Pig on Friday, June 18, from 9 pm. DJ MR! J will be playing on the turntables. The event is free of charge.

The Wyoming Solstice Celebration takes place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Clarion Inn with live music and a range of activities from Reiki to tarot readings to massages. The event costs $ 3 or a donation to the Wyoming Food for Thought Project.

After the Midsummer Night’s Event at Crimson Dawn Park on Casper Mountain 2020 was canceled due to COVID-19, it will be celebrated again on Monday, June 21 at 7 p.m.

“The evening features stories about magical characters made famous by Neal Forsling, who started the tradition 92 years ago,” says Crimson Dawn Park and Museum. “The Storytelling Walk attracts hundreds of visitors every year. There are also a number of yoga studios in the area that offer outdoor classes or solstice excursions. WyOMing Yoga & Massage conducts a “Summer Solstice Walk & Yoga” on Saturday from 9 am to 11 am. Participants are encouraged to sign up for the course, which starts at the Nordic Trails Center on Casper Mountain.

Theraexpressions is offering an Aerial Yoga Workshop at the Crimson Dawn on the Mountain from 8.30 a.m. Those interested should register in good time.

There will also be a Yoga on the Labyrinth class by the river on Saturday in the Bart Rea Learning Circle in Amoco Park. A qigong lesson starts at 8:30 a.m. with yoga from 9 a.m. The course is free with people who can donate to the following non-profit organizations of their choice:

  • The Casper Greenhouse Project
  • The Casper Mural Project
  • The hub for good food

David Street Station also hosts yoga classes on several levels on Saturday from 7 a.m. Yoga at the station is free and open to the public.
