If you’re interested in customization and live wallpaper apps for your Windows PC, you probably know the popular live wallpaper app called Wallpaper Engine. It’s one of the best dynamic wallpaper apps you can get for your Windows machine and it’s pretty popular on Steam. If you’ve used the Wallpaper Engine on Windows and loved it, you’d be happy to know that an Android version of the app is coming soon.
The developer of the same name recently announced the Android version of the wallpaper engine on its official Steam page. The company also gave a sneak peek of the app, which runs on an Android device, as part of their latest 1.7 patch report.
According to the patch report, the company has been working on the Android version of the Wallpaper Engine in the past few months. Although the Windows version costs 229 rupees in India, the Android version will essentially be available as a free add-on for existing Wallpaper Engine users and serve as a companion app to the Windows version.
This allows users currently using the Wallpaper Engine on their Windows devices to wirelessly stream their creations to a compatible Android smartphone or tablet over a Wi-Fi network. Although users cannot access their workshop in the Android version, the Windows version acts as a hub for the background images that have already been created.
As per the teaser screen shots (one of which is attached above), the Wallpaper Engine Android app has various dynamic wallpapers and customization features. Also, they can create a wallpaper playlist, set FPS limits for the wallpapers, and import local videos and GIFs directly into the app to turn them into beautiful dynamic wallpapers.
The background images that you create in the Wallpaper Engine editor on Windows are first converted to a format compatible with mobile devices before they are sent to your Android smartphone. And for those concerned about the battery life of their devices, the Android app also lets you configure battery saving features.
That’s what the company says Developing the Android version of the Wallpaper Engine app was a challenge for the team. But it wanted to serve Android’s huge user base, so it was the most rational platform for expanding app support.
Now regarding availability, the company says that the wallpaper engine for Android is already in the stable phase. However, the developers will do some final testing before the app is publicly released on Android. According to the developers, the app should be available in the Google Play Store and other third-party app stores sometime in late October or early November.
