Journalism is a thankless business, they say. If you don’t dishevel a few feathers, you’re not doing your job. Here at CBS 2, we investigate stories that change laws and communities – and we are very proud that our commitment has earned us such prestigious awards.

For the total award for excellence, CBS 2 was recognized for its investigative work, including its long-running series on the Chicago Police Department officers search the homes from innocent residents. The station also made its coverage of widespread civil unrest following the death of George Floyd. The entry also included Brad Edwards’ Getting Hosed series, which revealed how the city bills residents for water they never used, Dorothy Tuckers Eviction stories and Dave Savinis Police body camera investigation “Left in the Dark”.

“We are honored with this incredible recognition,” said Jeff Harris, vice president and news director of CBS 2, when the award was announced in August. “As journalists, we have a duty to report misconduct and tell the stories of our city. In this way, we hope to improve our community and make Chicago a better place to live. This award reflects this commitment. “
