D&D RPG Solasta: Crown Of The Magister has left Early Access

Always wanted to massage your tabletop directly into your computer? You’re having a glorious session of Dungeons and Dragons but man, you wish you could just see it virtually instead of having to make up all those call pictures in your brain. If that’s the case, the D&D based RPG Solasta: Crown Of The Magister could be the game for you. Developed by Tactical Adventures, it left Early Access today and invites players into a fantasy world based on the D&D 5e rules.

“In Solasta you take control of four heroes, each with unique skills that complement each other,” say the developers of Tactical Adventures. “Every hero expresses himself in the adventure and makes every action and dialogue selection a dynamic part of the story. Players will create their heroes like in a pen-and-paper game by choosing their race, class, personality and rolling their stats. ”

As in a typical pen-and-paper adventure, you roll the dice and explore dungeons, plunder your heart and fight beasts in turn-based battles. It has a play through story campaign as well as an in-game dungeon maker if you fancy creating your own dungeons to drag friends around.

Tactical Adventures licensed the Dungeons & Dragons 5e rulebook from Wizards Of The Coast to develop this game. Measured at Steam ratingsSolasta works really well in these 5e rules even with some players it is better than to say Larian the Baldur’s Gate 3. That intrigues me because I ricocheted off BG3, but I love a bit of D&D, so maybe Solasta more become my alley.

Nat (RPS in Peace) tried a demo of the game in 2019 and admired how much Solasta felt after “watching a group of idiotic pals dressing up as LARP in the nearby forest”. She found the voice acting a little questionable but forgivable as the game was pretty fun.

Solasta: Crown Of The Magister has left Early Access and you can buy it on Steam and GOG for £ 25 / € 32 / $ 32. It’s also available in Xbox Game Pass for PC.
