Devolver Digital’s Weird West has been pushed back to March 31st

Devolver Digital and developer WolfEye Studios announced (thanks to RPG Site) this action RPG/immersive sim hybrid Strange West would be pushed back to March 31 to make it more immersive and weird, moving the game two months past its original January release date.

Composed of veterans of immersive sim specimens like Dishonored and Prey, WolfEye Studios wanted to make a game with a western setting mixed with weird supernatural elements in the form of something like Diablo meets Fallout. Creative Director Raf Colantonio explained the reasons for the delay:

Weird West is an impressively deep blend of action RPG and immersive simulation elements, building on the WolfEye team’s experience with Dishonored and Prey. Early feedback is fantastic, but as with any immersive simulation, there are many variables that can lead to unintended consequences. More time is needed to deliver an experience that the WolfEye and Devolver community has come to expect. The team understands that this might be a disappointment for people, but want to make sure the game they’ve been working on for years is released in the best possible form.

Announced during a Devolver Direct in 2020, Weird West is touting his team made up of Arkane Studios developers. Then, in October, the release date was set for January, although WolfEye now obviously feels it needs more time to deliver the best game it can. Hopefully it’ll be worth the wait when it strikes.

Weird West will be available on March 31, 2022 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
