Did Marvel Just Dismiss Doctor Strange 2’s Scarlet Witch Reveal?

Despite helping save the world countless times, the heroism of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, aka The Scarlet Witch, has been the subject of viral debate for some time. After all, a fair conversation is to be had after she allied with HYDRA and Ultron and caused death and injury to many people civil warShe locked up a town to live out her fantasy life WandaVisionand tried to kill a child Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hoping to reunite with her.

Looking at the list of heroic and villainous actions Wanda has taken in the MCU over the years, one can only imagine that her public image is far from the best. Multiverse of Madness gave some hints to at least publicly indicate that Wanda was no longer an Avenger, but many heroes’ membership has been up in the air ever since Avengers: Endgame.

Now new footage from Mrs Miracle appears to have contradicted these claims as Scarlet Witch was shown alongside other heroes.

Ms. Marvel contradicts Scarlet Witch’s Avenger status

Marvel appears to have contradicted the claims in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on the Avenger status of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, in the MCU.

That Doctor Strange Continuation suggested that Wanda had been removed from the team’s public image following her actions Captain America: Civil War and WandaVision. The titular wizard even offered to get her “Back to the lunch box” in exchange for her help protecting America Chavez from a multiversal threat – which turned out to be the Scarlet Witch herself.

Are Wanda’s heroic days in the MCU over?

With AvengerCon taking place in New Jersey, one would imagine that Wanda would be particularly unpopular in the state where the city of Westview is located. Multiverse of Madness didn’t spend enough time among the MCU’s regular folks to get a sense of Wanda’s public image after taking over an entire town WandaVisionbut one can only imagine that it would not be popular.

There’s no telling who is actually behind superhero events and in-universe merch like AvengerCon, but they’re probably making a handsome profit. Maybe whoever is behind this event contradicts the general public perception of Wanda, or maybe she’s just too popular a hero to not capitalize on it like she is in the real world.

After the dramatic end of Doctor Strange Continuing, it remains unclear if Wanda is even alive after making the ultimate sacrifice to destroy the Darkhold. If it turns out she survived, as most expect given the character’s popularity, she will have a long way to go before she is redeemed in the eyes of her fellow heroes and the public.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness plays in theaters now; Mrs Miracle Premieres June 8 exclusively on Disney+.
