Forspoken postponed to January – Game Informer

Forspoken, the upcoming action role-playing game from Square Enix, will no longer be released in October and has been pushed back to January 24th.

In a post on the game’s Twitter page, developer Luminous Productions, a team of Final Fantasy XV developers, states that Forspoken is largely complete and in the final stages of polishing. He describes the delay as a “strategic decision” and that we’ll hear more about the game in the near future.

As a result of ongoing discussions with key partners, we have made the strategic decision to extend the launch date of Forspoken to January 24, 2023. All game elements are now complete and the development is in the final fine-tuning phase.

We want to thank you for your continued support and patience along this journey. Your enthusiasm for the game inspires us every day and we can’t wait to share more about Forspoken with you later this summer!

Forspoken is no stranger to delays, having originally been scheduled for May 24th before being pushed back to October 11th. While this second delay isn’t that long, it’s disappointing that we won’t see Frey Holland’s adventures this year. but we trust that the delay will only help bring the game up to scratch. The adventure transports Frey, a modern day New Yorker, into the fantasy world of Athia, where she acquires magical powers and a talking bracelet. She will use her newfound abilities to free Athia from tyranny while also searching for a way back to her world.
