Galaxy Tab S8 gets Android 12L (One UI 4.1.1) update with better multitasking

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is Samsung’s first device to launch with Android 12L-based One UI 4.1.1 on board. Now the Galaxy Tab S8 series is the first series of tablets to receive the Android 12L (One UI 4.1.1) update in Europe and South Korea.

In Europe, the latest software update for the Galaxy Tab S8 comes with firmware version X70xBXXU2AVH2while the Galaxy Tab S8+ gets it with firmware version X80xBXXU2AVH5. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra gets the update with firmware version X90xBXXU2AVH2. The update, which also includes the August 2022 security patch, is available for cellular and Wi-Fi only variants of the Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+ and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.

Features of the Galaxy Tab S8 Android 12L (One UI 4.1.1).

The Android 12L update brings the same taskbar feature that debuted with the Galaxy Z Fold 4. It stays at the bottom of the screen, allowing for faster navigation between apps and more efficient multitasking. It allows quick opening of apps in split-screen mode or in a pop-up view. It can also be used to pin and open most used app pairs.

A new two-finger gesture can be used to switch between full-screen and split-screen views. The app handle can be used to open apps in a floating window or in a split screen. The new software enables app names to be displayed in the Edge Panel.

With One UI 4.1.1, Galaxy Tab S8 series can extract text from any picture, share it with any app or translate text to another language. Currently Chinese, French, German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish are supported. In addition, suggested actions are displayed based on the text extracted from images.

Samsung has also implemented a feature that allows users to set a different caller background for each contact. Since Google Duo merged with Google Meet, users can use this app for 1:1 or group video calls. Samsung Keyboard allows users to type in a wider variety of emojis, stickers, and kaomoji.

The new version of the My Files app can search for information in files. For example, you can search for a phone number and the app will display that information even if it’s stored in an image or document. You can also filter and sort files that appear on the search results page.

In the Samsung Internet web browser, favorite websites can be rearranged by dragging and dropping their icon. Bookmarks can be sorted between folders. Users can also edit a collection of wallpapers for their lock screen and change their selection even after selecting a group of wallpapers as their device lock screen background.
