Giannis Antetokounmpo’s MVP ratings improve after sensational week

Giannis Antetokounmpo is back in the MVP talk.

After sensational performances against the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers, Antetokounmpo has seen his odds reflect his most recent game, rising from 12-1 to the current 5-1 at Caesars Sportsbook. The move puts him in third place behind the Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic (-200) and Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid (+200).

The “Greek Freak,” who faced fellow MVP contender Embiid Tuesday, had 40 points and 14 rebounds in a 118-116 win for the Milwaukee Bucks. In another celebratory matchup, Antetokounmpo put up 44 points and 14 boards against the Nets, defeating Kevin Durant and company 120-119 in overtime.

A spokesman for Caesars Sportsbook said the 27-year-old’s odds have improved mainly due to his recent performances rather than a general uptick in betting interest.

The two-time MVP ranks first in the NBA with LeBron James with 30.1 PPG, while Embiid averages 30 PPG. Jokic, last year’s MVP, ranks ninth with 26.5 PPG, second in boards with 13.6 RPG, and first among all big men in assists with eight APG. It all makes for an exciting conclusion to this year’s race.

FanDuel Sportsbook currently has Giannis Antetokounmpo at +600 odds to win the NBA Regular Season MVP award.
