P2P Crypto Market Localbitcoins offers users an Android app

Popular P2P crypto exchange Localbitcoins has unveiled a mobile application for merchants around the world. The app was developed for Android users and has already seen thousands of downloads, according to an announcement published on Monday. Work on creating an iOS version will continue, the marketplace assured.

Headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, the company announced it was launching the app after adding 1.7 million customers in 2020, most of whom used mobile devices to access its platform. Quoted in the press release, Jukka Blomberg, Chief Marketing Officer of Localbitcoins commented:

Our new mobile app shows our commitment to our global user base and enforces LocalBitcoins’ founding idea to bring Bitcoin Everywhere.

The application facilitates crypto purchases and sales in 190 countries, detailed exchanges, supports “almost all global currencies” and more than 100 payment methods. Users are offered a free Bitcoin wallet, while security has been enhanced with biometric and two-factor authentication.

Localbitcoins also promises low fees with free deposits and transactions between its users. The platform charges a 1% escrow fee from advertisers and a withdrawal fee based on the Bitcoin blockchain fees.

“Bitcoin Everywhere is all about inclusion and accessibility. We constantly listen to the needs of our customers around the world and are constantly striving to improve and develop our service to meet them, “said Blomberg, adding,” Many of our customers had hoped for a mobile app as an option and as a result, we have developed one. “

In the years since its inception in 2012, Localbitcoins has grown to become the world’s leading peer-to-peer crypto exchange by facilitating over-the-counter trading of Bitcoin (BTC) with local fiat currency. In June of this year, the platform expanded its payment options Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Dogecoin (DOGE) alongside other cryptocurrencies and stablecoins such as Tether (USDT).

Localbitcoins enables users to post ads on its website, suggest an exchange rate for their digital assets, and specify the payment methods that buyers can use to purchase the coins. In 2019, the P2P marketplace announced that it was introducing new identity verification rules and abolishing in-person cash trading, forcing some of its customers to look for alternative services.

A major competitor to Localbitcoins, Paxful has a mobile wallet app that allows users to buy, send, and receive BTC, ETH, and USDT. Other peer-to-peer crypto exchange options include Hodl Hodl, which allowed Bluewallet app users to buy Bitcoin by integrating with its platform last year, and Localcryptos, which supported BCH transactions in September.
