Loki Episode 6, which opened with a series of MCU quotes mixed with real life anecdotes about the Marvel Studios logo, was apparently the brainchild of Kevin Feige.
The Loki The intro to finale was the brainchild of Kevin Feige. With a series of MCU quotes combined with real-world anecdotes about the Marvel Studios logo, the latest MCU / Disney + show opened episode 6 titled “Forever Is Really Behind the Time Variance Authority / TVA?
After weeks of building the mystery while Loki went on and hit his other lines, the Loki series finale delivered its build and exposed He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors). A variant of Kang the Conqueror, the god of mischief and Sylvie (Sophia di Martino) successfully reached his citadel at the end of time thanks to the help of Classic Loki (Richard E. Grant). During their face-to-face meeting, He explained to Who Remains its origins, not to mention the motivation behind creating the organization. As it turns out, it also serves to prevent another multiversal war created by an evil version of itself. Sylvie didn’t believe him, so she continued her plans to kill the creature. This resulted in the branches of the timeline growing continuously and threatening to overlap, effectively building the overall narrative for Phase 4 and beyond.
Suffice it to say the events of the Loki Finale will have a massive impact on the MCU. Even before that reveal, the episode’s intro hinted at it subtly, using MCU quotes in the opening theme. Apparently, it was Feige who suggested this idea because director Kate Herron and her team just wanted to use random sounds to represent life. In a new interview with BuzzFeed, she reveals that the president of Marvel Studios liked the concept because they had never done it before. Read what Herron said about Feige’s idea below:
I got this strange idea when I remembered saying to my editor, Emma McCleave, ‘Oh, can we add a crying baby or the sounds of the city? And it’s like we’re just hearing life. ‘ So you, me and Kevin Wright really got into it. So we put all of these different sounds on the timeline. We also had quotes from life, not Marvel. Then we showed this cut to Kevin Feige and the rest of the team. Everyone thought it was cool, and then Kevin Feige said, ‘Oh, you know what? We have never made any quotes about the Marvel logo. ‘ We thought that was cool and added the quotes to the Marvel logo intro. Then I decided to have Kevin Wright, Emma, and Sarah Bennett, Emma’s assistant, just put the MCU quotes over the whole thing.
Using MCU quotes in the Loki Finale intro was a great way to set up the episode’s events. While previous Disney + series like WandaVision and The falcon and the winter soldier The show, led by Tom Hiddleston, kept its self-contained storytelling up until the end and paved the way for the franchise’s shared storytelling. A reference to what happened prior to that point in his reticent canon implied that it would have. As revealed on the show, everything that happened in the Infinity Saga was predetermined, but that’s changing. As He Who Remains said, they have passed the point of no going back and everything that is going on out here is uncertain.
Based on what is known about the future of the franchise, Loki finale is effectively deploying at least five MCU phase 4 projects. Coincidentally, they are all related to the creation of the multiverse and its impending transitions. It’s also worth noting that while He Who Remains has just been killed, it won’t be the last time majors will be in the universe. Instead, this is just the beginning, and expect him to play in different versions of Kang the Conqueror in the years to come.
