Pathfinder: Kingmaker is a regular contender for the best nu-old-school CRPGs, beating players like Divinity: Original Sin 2. If that was your opinion, good news! The sequel Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous is out today. Check out the launch trailer below.
Wrath Of The Righteous is set in an area known as the Wound of the World, overrun by demons from the Abyss. You set out to fight the beasts and the flexibility comes from the different types of characters you can create and the different paths you can find to achieve that goal. You can become an angel or demon, travel with a choice of ten possible companions, command an army, and redesign the city based on your choices.
If I see Kingmaker praised, it’s mostly for his tone, which seems to have found a midpoint between the dryness of Pillars Of Eternity and the silliness of Divinity: Original Sin 2. Our own Pathfinder: Kingmaker review appeared to be an outlier over-focused on lore and numbers.
There was certainly no shortage of people ready to kick-start a sequel, with The Wrath Of The Righteous grossing over $ 2 million. Backers have been given access to several betas in advance of the release.
If you’re someone who loved the original and craved more, Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous is now available on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store for £ 43 / € 50 / $ 50.
