Serj Tankian is grateful for COVID concerns and happy that he was vaccinated

System of a Down had to postpone its scheduled stadium shows to 2022 last week after it was revealed that singer Serj Tankian tested positive for COVID-19. In the time since the announcement, the singer has received a lot of congratulations from fans and sent a message over the weekend.

The singer posted a picture of two skeleton pirates at a piano bench in his house with the caption and the explanation: “Not so fun when you are at home with Covid, but still fun 🙂 We had Halloween decorations for our son’s birthday ordered, which we had to reschedule together with the 2 SOAD shows. “

Continuing the news, he thanked fans for their support since the reveal that he was infected with COVID, stating, “I am overwhelmed and extremely grateful for the outpouring of love and concern from friends and strangers alike. I am fine and I hope to be “relieved of all symptoms soon. I believe the vaccination helped minimize my symptoms and suffering. “

The singer continued, “We have many in our community who are vaccine resistant. I understand and I am not someone who takes sides on this issue. I think any medical situation requires an adequate understanding of the patient’s gender, age, medical history, and the patient’s vaccines should be no different and their side effects should be taken seriously. The healthcare industry can no longer function as one size fits all. It’s medically irresponsible. Still, I am glad that I was vaccinated along with my older parents. Thanks again for all the love. “

Tankian and his System of a Down bandmates were planning two stadium shows at the Banc of California stadium in Los Angeles, but have now postponed those dates to February 4th and 5th of next year. The shows should also feature Korn and Russian Circles. Faith No More was also part of the bill initially but was rejected earlier this year when Mike Patton took off the tour to give his mental health priority.

Korn and Russian Circles have also had touring problems lately. Korns Jonathan Davis, Munky, and Ray Luzier all tested positive for COVID at various times during the band’s summer tour. Meanwhile, Russian circles recently fell victim to an equipment theft on the street, with a number of items stolen from their U-Haul truck.
