BOO who? Cheer up, we have you.
Louder for the back, Boss of Ops and O11y (BOO!) Is formerly Boss of the NOC (BOTN). In case you missed it, check out these Notice for more details.
BOO is a fun, capture-the-flag-esque (CTF) activity in which participants take the Splunk Observability Cloud – and other resources – to answer a wide variety of questions about the different types of real-world IT incidents that analysts and engineers face on a daily basis. The Splunk IT Strategists created this event to simulate the day-to-day life of a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) dealing with IT operations and Observability and to show how Splunk is used to examine, analyze, and monitor real world environments.
At BOO, we work hard to create episodes and questions that allow players to get hands-on experience in a pre-built environment while having fun!
Become part of the shirt crowd
You still take on the roles of Ace, SRE and Splunk Extraordinaire. However, we have big news about Ace this year … as Ace you accepted a job offer that you couldn’t turn down The Splunk T-Shirt Co. (STSC)! Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is all the great t-shirt perks that come with this new position. But with great t-shirt perks comes great responsibility! You are responsible for keeping the site up and running, addressing employee IT issues, overseeing the STSC’s hybrid environment, and understanding the business impact of incidents. We know Shelly corn blossom Asks a lot of you, but Splunk’s observability portfolio is your weapon of choice and you will have the support of your team (up to 4 participants) and your trainers!

Now is the time to band together, you Shirtheads:
Within the BOO event, you will be directed to join a team, even if you are a single player and a team of one. We strongly recommend forming a team of up to four people with your co-workers, friends, splunkers, and ninjas.
Check your emails in advance of the event. You will receive useful preliminary information and some tips and tricks, maybe even new Easter Eggs (read between the lines)! Shortly before the start of the kickoff, a final email with all the links to connect (Splunk Twitch and discord) so as not to sink your Splunk battleship.
We are really looking forward to this event and hope so are you! Although virtual, we are sure to have plenty of guest appearances and fun throughout the event!
