St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds – July 22, 2022

Back-to-back series against the St. Louis Cardinals? Yes! The Cincinnati Reds will welcome their opponents from the National League Central to Great American Ball Park tonight to begin a 3-game weekend series coming out of the All-Star break. Neither team has played since Saturday’s clash. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. ET and it’s going to be hot. You can watch for free on when you’re not at the Cincinnati Market.

Starting Lineups

Here are the lineups for tonight’s game:

start pitchers

Graham Ashcraft

After a disastrous start in late June against the Cubs, where he couldn’t make it out of the 3rd inning, Graham Ashcraft has done well the last two times against the Mets and the Yankees.

Adam Wainwright

Cincinnati may have taken a little hiatus here as Adam Wainwright is a lot worse off the road than he is at home. Outside of St. Louis, his ERA is more than double what it is at home, with a 4.10 ERA on the road while allowing more homers, walking more batters, and hitting significantly fewer batters.

When it comes to splits versus hitters, he’s got quite a few reverse splits going. Right-handers hit for a better average, come down more to the base (but go a lot less), and hit for a lot more power. Left-handers walk twice as often, but they don’t find nearly as many hits, nor do they hit for power.
