The Ascent finally has a release date, and it’s pretty soon.
The climb, the sci-fi top-down action RPG that you may remember from debuting in an Xbox showcase a year ago, has an official release date. The game will be released on July 29th for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / S.
As previously announced, The Ascent will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one, but you can pay $ 30 / £ 25 for it otherwise steam or the Microsoft Store.
The Ascent comes from the new indie studio Neon Giant, which uses the game to drive visual fidelity, particle effects, destruction and dense environments. It targets 4K at 60 frames per second on the Xbox Series X, although details of other Xbox consoles are currently unknown.
Aside from its visible engineering marvels, The Ascent is a shooter role-playing game set in a company-run mega-structure where you play as a contract worker forced to fight everyone in a battle brought about by the sudden shutdown of The Ascension Group .
The game can be played alone or online with up to three other players. Being set in a giant skyscraper allows for impressive verticality, and the game’s RPG systems allow you to make your character your own with mods and expansions.
