Update: The Xbox Series X is in stock at Curries. Read on for more details.

The pandemic-induced global supply chain crisis is far from over, it is expected to persist well into the New Year, which means that many high-end electronic devices like the Xbox X Series remain sold out across the board.

While British retailers apparently kept consoles in stock for the Christmas stress, Microsoft’s next-generation gaming machine is once again difficult to find online after the Christmas break.

When new inventory hits, it usually happens without warning and sells out in minutes or even seconds as avid online shoppers grab the Xbox as soon as it goes on sale. That’s why we’ve launched our Xbox Series X inventory tracking live blog where we monitor every UK retailer at the same time to provide you with live notifications of goods as soon as the console appears. That way, you have a good chance of picking up a console before it sells out.

We’ll also give you tips and advice on how to beat the crowds to buy an Xbox Series X, including what websites to look out for, where the Xbox might be restocked next, and how to register your interest in new consoles, before they go on sale.

Well that’s all of us for another day. Thank you for joining us for inventory tracking here on the Xbox Series X Live Blog.

Those Currys Xbox bundles are still doing well – the expensive add-ons seem to put people off – while Asda and Smyths Toys are also accepting applications for Xbox All Access, the monthly alternative to paying full price for the console in advance.

If you’re waiting for the console to come back in stock with no controllers bundled together and whatever, come back to us tomorrow if we keep searching. Bye!

Why doesn’t Amazon have the Xbox Series X?

Amazon is completely sold out in the UK from Xbox Series X and was last replenished just before Christmas. In the past few weeks, the retail giant had made the new console from Microsoft available in Germany, France and Spain.

When considering importing the Xbox from Europe, there are some hidden costs to consider first. When importing items over a certain value from the EU, a number of taxes, delivery charges and fees apply. Due to the added red tape, many courier companies have also increased their prices.

You can expect to have to pay at least £ 100 extra this way to buy an Xbox this way, but on the flip side, your console will have a laid-back continental setting and generally enjoyable French electro vibes.

What’s the best VPN for Xbox?

A virtual private network can trick websites and streaming platforms into thinking that you are signing up from a country of your choice, which means you can access TV shows and movies that are normally not available in your area. They’re also useful for hiding your browsing habits from your ISP or operator so you can bypass firewalls, censorship, and other restrictions.

You might think this doesn’t matter much for the Xbox X Series, but with the plethora of streaming apps available on the computer, getting a VPN that will work well with the console is worth considering. You can’t install a VPN directly on an Xbox Series X, but you can install one on your laptop and route your console’s internet connection through it. You can also install some VPNs on routers to cover all of your devices at once.

A slow VPN will really affect your ping when playing online. So, to keep your Xbox Series X running at its peak, make sure that the VPN you choose is fast and responsive enough to avoid delays and dropouts when playing online. Are you looking for a PS5 this January?

People like to refer to the PlayStation 5 as the next-generation Xbox Series X rival console, but we prefer to think of them as old friends. What they have in common is their relative scarcity, as Sony’s next-generation console struggles with exactly the same supply chain problems as Microsoft’s own machine.

Over on the PS5 stock tracking live blog, we’re tracking the availability of the giant white monolith, so head over there for the latest tips on where it might appear next.

‘Goldeneye 007’ will be released digitally on Xbox

These were the newest graphics in 1997

Want another reason to find an Xbox Series X in stock? N64 classic Goldeneye 007 coming to Xbox soon, if a leaked string of achievements is to be believed.

TrueAchievements, which maintains a database of unlockable in-game achievements, has discovered a number of new entries related to the 1997 first-person shooter. Other details are few and far between and it is not yet clear whether the game will be a complete remake or a faithful rendering of the original game. Hands down the best James Bond game ever, late night multiplayer sessions from Goldeneye 007 were a mainstay of overnight stays for anyone growing up in the 90s.

The British studio Rare, which developed the game for Nintendo, has since been bought by Microsoft. Complicated licensing issues between different stakeholders have slowed most attempts to port the game to new consoles.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the game since the game was released, so we’ll keep our ears down for more news.
